Kenya has limited number of electoral trainers who are BRIDGE trained and accredited as facilitators. In the last ten (10) years Kenya has held two (2) BRIDGE Train the Facilitator (TtF) workshops and three (3) BRIDGE module workshops. Most of the trained persons are staff of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). However, only a few have been accredited as BRIDGE workshop facilitators. None of these trained persons has reached the level of accrediting facilitator. The IEBC, with the support of IFES, UNDP and UNWOMEN, plans to conduct a series of BRIDGE module workshops: å¤ Voter and Civic Education å¤ Post-Election Activities å¤ Gender and Elections å¤ Introduction to Election Administration å¤ Electoral Contestants å¤ Electoral Training å¤ Media and Elections The modules have been selected to match the needs of the IEBC, other electoral stakeholders and partners and the country at large especially during the post-election period. The module workshops will enhance skills of the selected staff in the respective topical themes, as well as key stakeholders who also carry out important activities across the electoral cycle. Moreover, the conduct of the workshop series will ensure the accreditation of both BRIDGE workshop facilitators and a small pool of accrediting facilitators. In this way, Kenya will be self-reliant because the BRIDGE accrediting facilitators will be in a position to accredit others locally in the future, without the need for external accrediting facilitators.
