27 November 2012

UNDP organized through the SCELT Project (Support to Civic Engagement in Libya’s Transition) a BRIDGE Civic Education workshop.Twenty-eight participants from different civil society organizations attended this workshop that took place from November 19 to 22, 2012 in Tripoli, 11 of them were women. Participants came from all over Libya, mainly from Sabha, Murzuk, Ubari, Derj, Benghazi, Elbaida, Tubruk, Tripoli, Elzawia, Msalata, Sirt, Alkhoms, Binwalid & Nalut.

Four BRIDGE facilitators participated in the preparation and delivery of this workshop:

1. Ossama Kamel (Independent BRIDGE expert facilitator)
2. Mera Sola (BRIDGE workshop facilitator)
3. Othman Abdelwanes (BRIDGE workshop facilitator)
4. Haitham Younes (UNDP BRIDGE semi-accredited facilitator)

Haitham Younes was accredited after this workshop to become Libya’s newest workshop facilitator. The workshop focused on the practical aspects of civic education programs using the eight steps approach. Participants were highly engaged in the activities and discussions since they are currently in the preparation phase of a series of civic/voter educations workshops. This workshop was a good occasion for them to learn about the design, delivery and evaluation of civic education programs. The facilitation team worked hard before and during the workshop and was available to respond to participants’ questions and demands.
